The 2023 Senior Citizen of the Year award was won by Corrie Bartle at Glenorchy’s recent Volunteer and Community Awards.
For more than five decades, Corrie has been a foster carer – and is still caring for children through the department. She lived and cared for children at a Kennerley Children’s Home for three years.
Corrie plays an active role in the fostering community, organising meetings for current foster carers to provide support and advice. Corrie believes that it is an honour to be able to share love and support for so many children who need it in society, and is a huge advocate for fostering in Tasmania.
Corrie and her husband John have five of their own children, as well as 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Thank you Corrie – you are an absolute star of the Glenorchy community, and have made such a difference in the lives of so many.
