The 2023 Citizen of the Year award was won by Lucy Baker at Glenorchy’s recent Volunteer and Community Awards in May.
Lucy has a strong service ethic and is an active member of her local community. She is passionate about bringing people together and making Glenorchy a better place.
Her dedication to and passion for enriching our City has been demonstrated both through her professional career and her involvement in various community projects and organisations.
7 years ago, Lucy established St Albi Bar and Eatery in Moonah. Through this business, Lucy has engaged with numerous charities, sports clubs, cultural clubs and hospitality events and projects.
It was Lucy’s vision to create the ‘To The North Market’ – an annual pop-up event that was held for the first time in 2021. Driven by the desire to give back to the community, Lucy founded the event on the idea of providing the community with a not-for-profit event that turns Albert Road into a mecca of colour and engagement.
Lucy also has an active involvement in community initiatives, and is often called to participate in speaking engagements with various community projects and panels. She champions donations to various charities and sports teams and maintains an active membership in netball leagues.
All this while maintaining a thriving business and raising a family.
Lucy is a role-model to many and she her drive to improve outcomes for her community is awe-inspiring.
Well done Lucy.
