Glenorchy City Council held its first meeting for 2024 on Monday 29 January. 9 Elected Members were present.

Announcements by the Chair – Update on Glenorchy War Memorial Pool Site project
The Mayor informed the meeting that Glenorchy City Council was expecting a Community Communication and Engagement Plan from consultants MI Global by close of Monday. This document outlines how MI Global plan to engage with the community on the future of the War Memorial Pool site.
Council will share details and widely promote opportunities for the community to have their say, as soon as possible.
Establishment of the Access and Inclusion Special Committee
Council has established a new Access and Inclusion Special Committee with revised terms of reference. The Committee will comprise of 8-10 core members, including two Elected Members, council officers, community subject matter experts, and representatives of key stakeholders. The Committee will provide advice to Glenorchy City Council on a wide range of matters, including public spaces, road and footpaths, buildings, Council Action Plans, Statements of Commitment, Policies, and much more.
Congratulations to Alderman Jan Dunsby and Alderman Shane Alderton for their successful nominations to sit on the Committee. This Committee will be in place for the duration of the Council term and after the next Council election a new Committee will be established.
Business Updates
A quarterly update was provided on Project Hudson, Moonah Arts Centre Business Plan, Childcare Connections, and progress on the Community Development Action Plan for noting by Elected Members. A monthly financial performance update was also provided which keeps Council up to date with regular high level financial information.
