Glenorchy City Council launches the LGBTIQA+ Inclusion and Advisory Group

Do you live, work or study in the City of Glenorchy?

Are you an LGBTIQA+ community member, and want to help Glenorchy City Council (GCC) be more inclusive for LGBTIQA+ people? Join our advisory group!

The group will be made up of 5-10 LGBTIQA+ community members, GCC Staff and representatives from LGBTIQA+ organisations. The group will guide Council’s LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Community Engagement, including a public survey.

There will be several meetings held over 6-8 months. The format of these meetings will be agreed upon by the group.

Participation is voluntary, however participants who are attending separately from their employment may be reimbursed for the costs of attending.

The LGBTIQA+ advisory group will guide the development of a Statement of Commitment and recommend action points to make Glenorchy City Council more inclusive for LGBTIQA+ people.

Advisory group participants must be over 18 years old. Priority will be given to applicants who are a regular part of the Glenorchy community – either living, working or studying in the Glenorchy LGA, from Moonah to Austins Ferry and out to Collinsvale, and from diverse lived experience.

There will also be wider consultation with communities across the region at a later date, giving those outside the advisory group more flexibility to have their say.

Apply to be a part of the advisory group by 5:00 pm, 30 November 2024.

For more information or assistance with applying, please contact Scoutt Winter, Social Planning & Policy Officer at 03 6216 6800 or scoutt.winter@gcc.tas.gov.au.
