Glenorchy City Council is calling on residents to share their thoughts on how the community can be more inclusive for LGBTIQA+ Tasmanians.
In collaboration with a dedicated LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Codesign Group, Council has launched a survey to identify key issues faced by LGBTIQA+ individuals and gather suggestions on how to create a more welcoming environment for all.
“The voices of LGBTIQA+ people in our community matter,” Mayor Sue Hickey said.
“Ensuring that everyone feels seen, heard, and valued is a key priority for us.”
This survey is an important step in understanding the needs of our diverse community and making meaningful changes” she added.
The survey, available through the Council’s community engagement platform, “Let’s Talk, Glenorchy,” will remain open for two months.
The insights gathered will be analysed by Council staff and the Codesign Group, with findings presented to the Council to help shape future initiatives.
“This is about making Glenorchy a place where everyone feels safe and included,” Mayor Hickey said.
“We encourage all community members to participate and help us build a more inclusive future.”
To encourage participation, respondents can enter a raffle for a chance to win one of two $100 vouchers for Northgate Shopping Centre.
The survey can be completed anonymously online at http://letstalk.gcc.tas.gov.au/lgbtiqa-2025.
Those who prefer a paper copy can visit the Council’s customer service team at 374 Main Road, Glenorchy.
Through this initiative, Glenorchy City Council aims to ensure all residents feel valued, respected, and included in the community.
