As leaders in the community, the aldermen acknowledge the importance of high standards of behaviour in maintaining good governance.
Good governance supports their main goal of acting in the best interests of the community. Aldermen therefore agree to conduct themselves in accordance with the standards of behaviour set out in the Code of Conduct.
The Code of Conduct applies to Aldermen whenever they:
- conduct Council business, whether they are a meeting or not
- conduct the business of their role (which may be that of Mayor, Deputy Mayor or Alderman)
- acts as a representative of the Council.
