Glenorchy City Council often lights up Chambers for various causes or days of significance. Council is giving organisations the chance to light the building with a pre-approved colour to raise awareness of significant events or charitable causes.
Organisations are encouraged to apply for the use of Glenorchy City Council lighting for short-term events.
Glenorchy City Council will assess applications on a first-come, first-served basis.
A request for the use of Chambers feature lighting may be considered only if it meets one or more of the following criteria:
- Promotion of a major charitable event
- Promotion of a charitable cause
- Celebration of a major Tasmanian festival, public event, or commemorative event with statewide significance
- Celebration of an Australian national or Tasmanian state sporting team achievement
Glenorchy City Council may reject lighting applications if they:
- Promote political causes or parties.
- Promote discriminatory messages or cause community disharmony.
- Create a distraction to surrounding businesses or motorists.
How to apply?
Applications must be submitted by an applicant who officially represents the body that is organising the event or promoting the cause in question. If you are not a part of the organisation, we encourage you to reach out to them to discuss an application for Chambers lighting.
You can apply to use the Glenorchy City Council Chambers lighting up to six months before your proposed dates. You must submit your application at least 15 business days before your proposed dates to allow enough time to assess it.
Glenorchy City Council will approve lighting applications for a maximum of seven days.
Applications will only be approved for solid colours featured on the below chart. Glenorchy City Council will not accept applications with multiple colours, patterns, or flashing lights.
Note: these application requirements apply to external applications only. These requirements may not apply to feature lighting initiated by Glenorchy City Council. Council reserves the right to regularly review or change these criteria, or to support and/or refuse applications as required.
Applications can be sent via email to communications@gcc.tas.gov.au
