Glenorchy City Council is responsible for the Jackson Street Waste Mananagement Centre, which offers
- Landfill disposal for household and small business waste
- Free public recycling drop-off for hard to recycle items e.g. car and household batteries; empty paint, oil and gas containers, flares etc.
- Dedicated landfill space for recycling white goods/metals, mattresses, tyres, glass, green waste and some types of household hazardous waste
- Space for a Resource Recovery Centre for e-waste and 30 different categories of re-sellable items
- Methane extraction system to generate electricity and reduce emissions
