Line Marking – Glenorchy City Cycleway

21 April 2025 - 5 May 2025

Glenorchy City Council will be completing line marking along the cycleway from Cadbury Road to New Town Rivulet.

Painters will be working from 7:00 am.

This work is scheduled for Monday, 21 April 2025 – 5 May 2025, weather permitting.

Road Closure – Kensington Street, Glenorchy

14 April 2025 - 28 April 2025

Glenorchy City Council will be installing a new raised school crossing to improve pedestrian safety within the school vicinity.

Kensington Street, Glenorchy will be closed for the works, with a detour provided via Main Road.

The works includes

  • Installation of new kerb & channel, asphalt footpath and grate
  • Installation of new concrete raised pavement
  • Installation of signage and line marking

The works are scheduled to commence on Monday, 14 April 2025 and are expected to last for 2 weeks; weather permitting.

Residents will still have access to their properties.

Working hours are limited to the hours between 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Disruption Type: Road Works

Maintenance Works – Barossa Creek Trail

24 March 2025 - 28 April 2025

Glenorchy City Council will be completing maintenance works in the Barossa Creek trail area.

These works involve clearing up rock and debris deposits from the underground stormwater pipes and are expected to take 4 – 5 weeks.

These works will begin on Monday, 24 March 2025.

Boardwalk Extension – Windermere Bay – Curlew Parade, Claremont

12 February 2025 - 17 April 2025

Glenorchy City Council are constructing a new boardwalk.

The works will involve connecting a section of existing boardwalk at Windermere Bay to Faulkner’s Rivulet, a new footbridge across Faulkner’s Rivulet and a new path connection to Curlew Parade.

Council are also working with Derwent Estuary Program (DEP) to rehabilitate the surrounding saltmarsh.

The works are expected to take around 8 weeks, from mid-February 2025.

During construction, the southern end of the Windermere Bay Foreshore Reserve will be closed to the public, with temporary fencing provided by the contractor.

Berriedale Public Toilet Replacement project

10 February 2025 - 31 May 2025

Contractors are preparing to commence works for the Berriedale Public Toilet replacement project.

These works will take place at 1 Alcorso Drive, Berriedale from 7:00 am, Monday 10 February 2025.

Falkner Construction will be demolishing the existing public toilet and constructing a new facility in the same location.

The project is expected to be finished in May 2025, weather permitting, the public toilet will be completely closed to locals during this time.

The public will be informed about the closure, with possible alternate public toilet sites at Windermere Bay Reserve and Montrose Bay

Landfill works – Jackson Street Landfill

31 January 2025 - 31 May 2025

Glenorchy City Council contractors will be completing works at the Jackson Street Landfill for several weeks.

This will include extending the current landfill cell, weather permitting.

During this time there will be an increase in truck movements to the landfill and an increase of activity adjacent the current tip face.

Road Rehabilitation Project at Ashbourne Grove

30 October 2024 - 30 June 2025

As a part of the annual capital works program, Glenorchy City Council is commencing the renewal works of Stage 2 at Ashbourne Grove in West Moonah on 30 October 2024.

Initial works are to renew the footpath and kerb & channel at the Ashbourne / Garden Grove intersection before works will continue towards Reiby Street.

Please be advised that the construction time will be approximately until the end of June 2025 for the whole project, weather permitting.

Working hours are between the hours of 7:30 am to 4:30pm on weekdays.

During the project we ask all residents, motorists and pedestrians to obey all speed and advisory signs.

Council acknowledges that the roadworks may be inconvenient and disruptive for some people and thank you for your understanding and support for this type of work.
