Stormwater Improvement Works – Intercity Cycleway, New Town

27 October 2025 - 19 November 2025

The City of Hobart (CoH) will be carrying out stormwater improvement works near the Intercity Cycleway (behind 25–29 Mercer Street, New Town) from Monday 27 October to Friday 19 November 2025, between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

During this time:

  • Stormwater services, property access, and waste collection will not be affected.

  • A site office and mobile plant will be located on Bromby Street, which may reduce on-street parking availability.

  • Increased traffic on Bromby Street is expected due to plant and material deliveries.

Cycleway users should note:

  • The Intercity Cycleway will be closed at regular times during the works.

  • A detour route will be in place via Bromby Street, New Town/Main Road, and Brownells Lane to safely bypass the construction area.

The City will make every effort to minimise disruption, while maintaining safety requirements. Road users and pedestrians are reminded to follow signage and any directions provided at the work zone.

Please observe all parking restrictions, as this notice does not provide exemptions.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank the community for their patience while these important works are completed.

For further information, please contact the CoH Coordinator Construction Projects, Mr Shane Honner.

Stormwater Improvements – Riverview Parade, Rosetta

25 August 2025 - 18 November 2025

We’ll soon be upgrading stormwater pipes and replacing the footpath, kerb, and gutter between 14 Riverview Parade and Mitchell Avenue, Rosetta.

To do this, we’ll need to close one lane at times, with traffic control in place.

From 27 September, during the school holidays, the road will need to be fully closed for a short period while we install a stormwater pipe across it.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this causes and ask residents, drivers, and pedestrians to please follow the signs and use alternative routes where needed.

Pedestrian and traffic improvements – Renfrew Circle, Goodwood

13 August 2025 - 1 April 2026

Stage two of the Renfrew Circle pedestrian and traffic improvements will begin on Wednesday, 13 August 2025.

The scope of works includes the installation of new stormwater infrastructure, removal and replacement of the existing concrete footpath and kerb and channel, followed by reconstruction of the road pavement.

As with the stage one works completed last financial year, new raised traffic tables will also be constructed at the Allardyce Avenue and McCartney Avenue junctions.

These works will involve temporary road closures, with access maintained for residents only.

Metro Tasmania has been notified and will implement a temporary bus detour during the construction period.
